What is the Penn State 2 + 2 Program?

Starting at the Penn State York campus will provide you with the experience and connections you need to earn your Penn State University diploma.

2 + 2 Program

Penn State University is made up of twenty-four campuses, located throughout the state of Pennsylvania: the largest of which is the University Park campus (more than 40,000 students). About 60 percent of all first-year students at Penn State start at a campus other than University Park, and then finish their degree at University Park or another Penn State campus. This process is called the 2 + 2 program; students spend 2 years at one campus, and 2 years at another campus of their choice to finish their degree program.

You have been accepted to Penn State York for your first two years of study. After completing your first two years of study here, you then have the option to move to another Penn State campus, including University Park, to finish your degree, or you can stay at Penn State York to earn one of ten different degree programs offered at our campus.

There is no additional application required for you to move to the University Park campus after spending your first two years at Penn State York. The transition is easy, in fact most of the international students who start at the Penn State York campus move to the University Park campus for their junior and senior years of study.

We are ALL Penn State!

Remember – we are one University in twenty-four locations; students graduating from ANY of our campuses earn a diploma from The Pennsylvania State University.

Why Penn State York?

There are many reasons why the York campus is a great place to begin your Penn State education, including small class sizes, free tutoring at the Nittany Success Center, free career services, student-centered research opportunities, and the unique opportunity to participate in the Graham Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Studies (The Graham Center).
