Advising and Career Development at Penn State York provides academic advising, information, and referral services to students enrolled in the Division of Undergraduate (DUS), Provisional (PROV) and nondegree status. We exist to help our students learn to make the best choices about their academic options and career opportunities. In partnership with faculty and staff, Advising and Career Development provides students a means of exploring major and career options.
We are available to all students and alumni, but are especially concerned with providing direction to students in transition, undecided students, and students who are changing from one major to another. We support the academic advising role of the faculty and encourage students to make use of this and all Penn State resources that facilitate the most positive academic experience and help students become self-directed learners and decision-makers. Students assume final responsibility for their academic and career decisions while both advisers and advisees must understand that they have certain responsibilities.
Beginning with programs for first-year students and extending beyond graduation, Advising and Career Development assists students and alumni with career related issues. In partnership with faculty and employers, we provide students with opportunities to connect with working professionals and prepare for internships, jobs, and graduate/professional school.
