Run, Hide, Fight: Penn State adopts new protocol for active-attacker response

No one ever plans to be the victim of a violent attack, but as acts of violence continue to make headlines across the nation, it’s important to plan ahead and know what to do before being confronted with an emergency. To help students, faculty and staff be prepared to respond to a potentially life-threatening situation, Penn State has adopted Run, Hide, Fight, replacing StaySAFE as the University’s official active-attacker response.

Travel to the Caribbean through the music of Ewabo Calypso Band

Ewabo Calypso Band opens the 2018-19 free cultural series at Penn State York with the sounds of the steel drum at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) on campus. The series, sponsored by the Penn State York Office of Student Affairs, is open to the public. Tickets are not needed for this event.

Jesse McCartney to perform at The Pullo Center Aug. 31

Jesse McCartney brings his music to the stage at the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) at Penn State York at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31. Tickets can be purchased at The Pullo Center Box Office, charge by phone at 717-505-8900, or ordered online. Tickets are $60 and $35, and special meet-and-greet opportunities can be purchased separately. Penn State York students can purchase a ticket to the performance for $17.

Penn State York parking lot becomes a drive-in movie for a night

“Incredibles 2,” a family-friendly film featuring that adventurous super hero family, the Parrs; and “The First Purge,” a horror/thriller movie for mature audiences, are the featured films for the drive-in movie at Penn State York set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14. The rain date is Sept. 21.
York Community Blood Drive

Give the gift of life at York community blood drive Aug. 23

Penn State York, Fox 43, and the American Red Cross have joined together to ask area residents to bleed for a good cause. The American Red Cross is in need of blood donations, and a community drive is set for Aug. 23 at Penn State York. The blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Conference Center of the Main Classroom Building and is open to the public.
Summer Institute York 2017

Summer Technology Institute at Penn State York focuses on teacher leadership

School is out for summer, but that doesn’t mean that teachers are just on vacation. Heart of Teaching: Instructional Practices for Teachers (EDCU 497), a weeklong graduate course, is being offered from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 9-13 at Penn State York. The class will be held in the Community Room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center on campus.
