Penn State Day Open House set for Oct. 20 in York

Take a walking tour of campus and see the recently renovated student center; meet faculty, staff and students; and learn what Penn State York has to offer during the Penn State Day Open House set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center.

Campus to participate in 'Walk a Mile in Her Shoes' event

Walking to make a difference, members of the Penn State York community, including students, faculty, staff and family members, are teaming up to participate in Walk a Mile in Her Shoes on Oct. 5, in the city of York. The opening ceremony is set for 6 p.m., with the walk starting at 6:30 p.m. at 320 N. George St., with many participants wearing high heels.

Pattillo and Ron Schaeffer, the new head baseball coach on campus, are excited about the opportunity to make their programs shine.

Constitution Day celebration includes trivia with a focus on U.S. history

Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by 39 men on Sept. 17, 1787, and celebrates the birthday of the government of the United States of America. Penn State York will celebrate Constitution Day on Monday, Sept. 17, with the fifth annual WE ARE the People trivia event at noon in the community room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center.

SAT prep course begins Sept. 29 at Penn State York

Start preparing to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) by enrolling in Penn State York’s SAT prep course beginning Saturday, Sept. 29. The four-week course meets every Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., in room 112 of the Edward M. Elias Science Building.

OLLI at Penn State York welcomes new director

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Penn State York is welcoming Jennifer May as its new director. May will begin working alongside the outgoing director, Peggy Chown, who will be retiring at the end of September. May joins OLLI at Penn State York with nearly 20 years of experience in educational leadership, professional development, training and nonprofit management.

Wendy Suzuki, author of 'Healthy Brain, Happy Life,' to speak Oct. 26

Wendy A. Suzuki, author and professor of neural science and psychology at New York University, will be the featured speaker for the Founders’ Lecture for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Penn State York, as OLLI celebrate its 10-year anniversary of offering lifelong learning opportunities. The program will be held from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 26 in the conference center on campus.
