Current Students
- Continuing students should always plan on meeting with their adviser to discuss course options and goals using a Registration Worksheet.
- They can then register for courses using LionPATH or in-person registration.
- Registration is not complete until payment is received.
New Freshman
- New incoming freshmen must attend a freshmen orientation during which time they will meet the advisers and discuss their schedule using a Registration Worksheet. At time, they will be given an opportunity to schedule their classes using LionPATH or in-person at the Registrar’s Office.

Provisional Student
- Provisional students should always plan on meeting with their adviser to discuss course options and goals using a Registration Worksheet.
- They can then register for courses using LionPATH or in-person registration.

Advanced-Standing or Re-enrolled Undergraduate Student
- If you are an undergraduate degree student who has been re-enrolled, or if you have been admitted with advanced standing from another institution, you must contact the Advising and Career Development office and plan an academic schedule using a Registration Worksheet.
- You may then register for courses using LionPATH or in-person registration.
- Registration is not complete until payment is received.
Nondegree Student
- Students who register for the first time and take classes through resident instruction as undergraduate nondegree students must complete the Nondegree Enrollment Form online or at the Registrar's office in the Main Classroom Building.
- Enrollment as a nondegree student does not imply admission to the University. The student must make formal application to the Admissions Office in the Main Classroom Building to be considered for admission as an undergraduate degree candidate.
- There are two categories of undergraduate nondegree enrollment:
- Regular
- There are no special restrictions to the nondegree regular status; advising is not required. All nondegree students register on a space available basis.
- Conditional
- Students previously dropped from degree status because of poor scholarship at Penn State or any other college or university may enroll only in a nondegree conditional status. Restrictions are applied to students registering in a nondegree conditional status:
- Limited to 12 credits per semester.
- Limited to 40 credits overall while in this status.
- Must obtain academic advice before registering.
