Penn State announces fall 2016 commencement events and speakers

This fall approximately 5,247 Penn State students will receive their diplomas. University-wide there will be 252 associate, 3,936 baccalaureate, 762 master's, 11 law and 286 doctoral degrees awarded. Following is a compilation of commencement ceremonies and speaker information for Penn State's 24 locations.

Penn State York to celebrate commencement Dec. 16

Penn State York will celebrate its 16th annual fall commencement at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center on campus. William S. Shipley III, chairman of the board of Shipley Group and Penn State Board of Trustees Representative, will be the commencement speaker.

Penn State York late-night breakfast theme to feature '90s cartoons, Disney

Don’t be surprised to see some of the characters from “Doug,” "Rugrats,” “Bobby’s World,” “Darkwing Duck," “Beauty and the Beast” and “Aladdin” at Penn State York on Monday night. The theme of this semester’s Late-night Breakfast, which will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at Rosie’s in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center, is '90s cartoons and Disney.

Applications being accepted for Noyce Scholarship

Applications for the Penn State Secondary Mathematics Noyce Scholarship Program must be submitted by Jan. 18, 2017. The competitive renewable scholarships will provide $19,000 per year for eligible students’ last two years of college.

Penn State York to honor Maddie Hill during ceremony on Dec. 2

Honoring Maddie Hill is something that members of Penn State York Benefiting THON and the campus community knew was the right thing to do. Hill, 19, who died in June after battling cancer three times, will be honored at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2 in a ceremony held between the women’s and men’s basketball games in the campus gym in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center.
