Nominations are now being accepted for the 2021-22 Penn State York Advising Award. Students may submit nominations for the award, which is presented at the Academic Awards Program in April of each year. The award was established in 1991 to recognize the importance of advising students and is presented to a faculty member who has excelled in his or her advising of students. Nominations should be submitted by 5 p.m. on March 25, 2022.
Nominations are being accepted for the 2021-22 James H. Burness Award for Excellence in Teaching. The award is given annually to recognize any aspect of excellent instruction — lectures, demonstrations, classroom activities, handling of discussions, individual attention, laboratory instruction, etc. — that contributes to the academic quality of Penn State York.
In alignment with the recent announcement from the White House on federal vaccination requirements, all Penn State employees at all locations are now subject to a federal COVID-19 vaccination requirement. The deadline for employees to receive their final dose of a vaccine is Jan. 4, 2022
In the early hours of the morning on Veterans Day, a group of Penn State York staff gathered to place 144 American flags at campus entrances in honor of all veterans. An appreciation event for veterans is set for Monday, Nov. 15, free and open to the public, with required registration.

Smith, founder of Brewery Tours LLC, will share how he used his passion to create a business when he tells his story during a free, public presentation on Nov. 9 sponsored by the York LaunchBox. The event is part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Nov. 8-12, at Penn State. John Tile, of Susquehanna SCORE, also will share information about the Next Step Grant, which Smith won in 2021.
The University’s seventh GivingTuesday celebration will launch early at 6:55 p.m. EST on Nov. 29 — or 18:55 in military time, a nod to the year of Penn State's founding — and run until midnight on Nov. 30. With more than 140 campaigns representing student organizations, alumni interest groups, and at least one project from every college and campus, this year’s event is the largest University-wide celebration to date.
A team of people showing that they care is how Alexis Feeser, a senior at Penn State York, describes the upcoming donation drive sponsored by several student organizations who have joined forces with the Impact Foundation of the York Suburban Education Fund (YSEF). A new bachelor of science degree in information technology will be offered beginning in the fall 2021 semester. The degree will replace the existing bachelor of science degree in information sciences and technology, which will be phased out over the next four years.
Penn State York Walk A Mile in Her Shoes team surpassed its $2,000 goal. Proceeds from the walk go to the YWCA of York and its programs to help survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and human trafficking.
