Both community and individual donors support Penn State York, and we are fortunate that the York community is philanthropically strong with its support for higher education.
Our corporate donations come from companies, business executives, and in some cases the corporate or family foundations related to those people/organizations. They focus on providing quality education for their employee’s families, for their employees seeking to advance in their careers, and to build their company’s success with a high-quality workforce.
We are blessed to have a donor who is a visionary business leader with a work ethic that is focused on innovation and collaboration and values our abilities to provide future workforce members – Penn State York graduates - who are critical thinkers and can hit the ground running as leaders from day one of employment. His generosity has supported the creation and continued growth of our entrepreneurial leadership program and enabled Penn State York to build a bricks-and-mortar home for that successful program.
Scholarship endowments provide student support in perpetuity and create a legacy for the donor and their family at Penn State York. Scholarships have been established in honor of or in memory of a donor, parents of a donor, or a student who passed away while attending Penn State York. Many have been created to pay it forward, with gifts from graduates who credit the scholarships they received and that donor’s belief in what they could accomplish, as the reason for their success at Penn State and beyond.
A recent scholarship was endowed by a successful alumnus and his wife living in Massachusetts. The alumnus stayed in touch with the campus and feels fortunate to have had local access to a high-quality Penn State education that is recognized around the world. The couple wanted to provide assistance for York County students with financial need to attain their goals and dreams right here at Penn State York. When the initial scholarship was awarded, the recipient shared comments about its impact, “I am truly humbled to be the scholarship’s recipient, and this assistance allows me to focus on my studies and pursue my passions, without the added stress of worrying how to pay for my education.”
