Welcome to Penn State York.
We are delighted that your student has chosen to enroll at Penn State York. College is an important time of an individual’s life as they take the advanced classes that will prepare them for a professional career. The faculty and staff are committed to helping our students achieve their academic goals. As the family member of a Penn State York student, your support is important to their success.
Students at Penn State York tell us that are our academic programs can be challenging and that faculty members have high expectations in the classroom. We suggest that you encourage your student to take advantage of the many resources the campus offers to help them succeed academically, including faculty office hours, the free tutoring assistance in the Nittany Success Center, the Academic and Career Development Office, the Personal Counseling Office, the resources of the Lee R. Glatfelter Library, and so much more. These offices are staffed with dedicated professionals whose sole responsibility is to provide support for students.
We also encourage you to talk with your student about the many co-curricular activities to complement their academic studies. They can join student-run clubs and organizations, serve in student government, participate in athletics, attend many multi-cultural activities, pursue leadership training opportunities in the Graham Center for Innovation and Collaboration, or even go to a Broadway show at no (or low cost) at the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) on our campus. We hope that our students will take advantage of the full suite of academic and co-curricular activities available on the Penn State York campus.
I have always held to the belief that one gets out of college what they put into it. I hope that you will encourage your students to take responsibility for their success, take advantage of the resources available to them, and strive for excellence in all that they do!
