YORK, Pa. — Penn State York, Fox43, and the American Red Cross have joined together to ask area residents to bleed for a good cause. The American Red Cross is in need of blood donations, and a community drive is set for Thursday, Aug. 26, at Penn State York. The blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Conference Center of the Main Classroom Building and is open to the public.
“We are extremely proud to be partnering again with Fox43 and the American Red Cross for the annual community blood drive at Penn State York,” said Scott Simonds, director of student affairs and the campus contact for the community blood drive. “This is an important event for our campus and the York community as we kick off the new academic year.”
Blood demand is at crucial levels, and the groups hope to see many campus and community individuals participate to help save many lives. According to the American Red Cross, the need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in the local community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every two to three seconds.
To schedule an appointment to donate blood, visit the American Red Cross website. Registration is preferred but walk-ins are welcome.
