Biography
Amber Majeske has a Masters in Sociology and a dual Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) and Gerontology from Purdue University. Her passion for family studies, religion, and culture began over 20 years ago as an exchange student in Denmark. Before coming to Penn State, she worked as a researcher at the Military Family Research Institute and Center on Aging and the Life Course. She also served as a group leader for an Addiction Recovery Family support group and as researcher on Sabbatical at the Grundvig Center for Culture and Religion in Aarhus, Denmark. These experiences has expanded her interests and expertise in family studies, religion, and culture.
Dr. Majeske currently serves as the Program Coordinator for HDFS at Penn State York. Nationally, she serves with the Issues in Aging, Families and Health, and Religion and Spirituality sections at the National Council on Family Relations. Her research interests include the context specific bi-directional effects of relationship interactions throughout adulthood. Currently, in her Adult Relationships, Religion, and Family Interactions Lab, the three research projects are 1) Fathering Adult Children, 2) Evaluation of the Give 5 Volunteer Matching Program for Older Adults, and 3) Divine Motherhood and Adult Family Relationships.
Outside of the lab or classroom, you might find Dr. Majeske building and designing with Lego, traveling around the world with her family, or hosting medical students, baseball players, or exchange students in her home.
