Walking to make a difference, members of the Penn State York community, including students, faculty, staff and family members, are teaming up to participate in Walk a Mile in Her Shoes on Oct. 5, in the city of York. The opening ceremony is set for 6 p.m., with the walk starting at 6:30 p.m. at 320 N. George St., with many participants wearing high heels.
Take a walking tour of campus and see the recently renovated student center; meet faculty, staff and students; and learn what Penn State York has to offer during the Penn State Day Open House set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center.
An innovative youth outreach program led by Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of York County is helping youngsters "escape" into a world of flowers, wildlife, water and fun.
Carlos Wiley, director of the Paul Robeson Cultural Center at University Park, will present “Inclusive Excellence, NOT Diversity” on Oct. 18 at Penn State York. The free program is set for 12:15 p.m. in the Conference Center in the Main Classroom Building on campus.
“Art and Politics: The Case of Corrado Cagli” will be the topic when Penn State Laureate John Champagne visits Penn State York on Nov. 6. The presentation, set for 12:10 p.m. in the Precision Custom Components Community Room, is free and open to the public.

Join the Penn State York Alumni Society for Coffee & Conversation on Oct. 18, when the topic will be “Early Warning Economic Indicators.” This free program, at 6:30 p.m. in the Precision Custom Components Community Room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center, is open to the public.

Penn State York will offer the 120-hour child care training, the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, beginning on Dec. 1 and ending on April 23, 2019.
Learn more about the Day of the Dead and decorate a sugar skull on Tuesday, Oct. 30, when Penn State York offers a look at this holiday celebration. There will be plenty of colorful paint, and a variety of other items, to decorate a sugar skull from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the conference center of the Main Classroom Building.
Writers of fiction, poetry, and drama interested in having their work published or performed should plan to enter the Penn State York Literary Competition sponsored by the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center and “Any Other Word,” the campus’ online literary magazine. The competition is open to Penn State York students, with submissions being accepted through March 2, 2019.
