Clay Shoot event benefits Penn State York athletics

Lydell Mitchell, former Penn State Nittany Lion football player, NFL running back, and entrepreneur, will be a part of Penn State York’s tenth annual clay shoot event on Thursday, April 26, with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The event takes place at Central Penn Sporting Clays (CPSC) in Wellsville, Pennsylvania.

David W. Chown, chancellor at Penn State York, is the commencement speaker at the campus’ 48th annual spring commencement at 6 p.m. Friday, May 4. The ceremony, in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) on campus, is free and open to the public.

The artwork of 11 Penn State York students is featured on the mezzanine levels of the campus’ Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) during the spring art show which continues through May 4. Twenty-five original pieces are displayed in the show. The exhibit is sponsored by the Penn State York Visual Arts Club.

Penn State York honored the academic achievements and service of its outstanding students, faculty, and staff for the 2017-18 academic year during the 47th Annual Academic Awards Ceremony, Sunday, April 22, at Heritage Hills Golf Resort & Conference Center in York, Pennsylvania. More than 80 academic and service awards were presented.

Late-Night Breakfast theme is super heroes and super villains

Is that Spiderman, Joker, Wonder Woman, Magneto, Batman, and Lex Luther in line at Rosie’s for the Late-night Breakfast at Penn State York? Attendees are encouraged to dress-up as their favorite super hero or super villain from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, April 30 at this popular end-of-semester event. This free event will be held at Rosie’s in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center. Late-night breakfast is for members of the Penn State York community.

In 1996, an original rock musical by a little-known composer opened on Broadway… and forever changed the landscape of American theatre. Two decades later, Jonathan Larson’s “RENT” continues to speak loudly and defiantly to audiences across generations and all over the world. The 20th Anniversary Tour of “Rent” takes to the stage at the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) at Penn State York on May 26 at 7:30 p.m.
