Penn State York is celebrating its annual fall commencement at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) at the campus. This is the first in-person commencement at The Pullo Center since fall 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. All those attending the ceremony are required to wear masks to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2021-22 Penn State York Advising Award. Students may submit nominations for the award, which is presented at the Academic Awards Program in April of each year. The award was established in 1991 to recognize the importance of advising students and is presented to a faculty member who has excelled in his or her advising of students. Nominations should be submitted by 5 p.m. on March 25, 2022.
Nominations are being accepted for the 2021-22 James H. Burness Award for Excellence in Teaching. The award is given annually to recognize any aspect of excellent instruction — lectures, demonstrations, classroom activities, handling of discussions, individual attention, laboratory instruction, etc. — that contributes to the academic quality of Penn State York.
In alignment with the recent announcement from the White House on federal vaccination requirements, all Penn State employees at all locations are now subject to a federal COVID-19 vaccination requirement. The deadline for employees to receive their final dose of a vaccine is Jan. 4, 2022
In the early hours of the morning on Veterans Day, a group of Penn State York staff gathered to place 144 American flags at campus entrances in honor of all veterans. An appreciation event for veterans is set for Monday, Nov. 15, free and open to the public, with required registration.
