York Chinese New Year Celebration

Penn State York's Chinese New Year celebration on Feb. 20 features a variety of activities and food.  It is the year of the dog, and members of the campus and community can also learn more about Chinese culture. One of the most popular activities for visitors is to have their name written in Chinese on a card they can take with them as a memento.

York THON Dancers 2018

Casey Dierdorff, Paulina Martinez, and Thalia Splawn, left to right,  are putting on their dancing shoes for 46 hours to represent Penn State York at the Penn State Dance Marathon (THON) at the Bryce Jordan Center on Feb. 16-18.   York's dancers will be among the more than 700 students dancing for a cure in the fight against pediatric cancer.

Valerie Carrington, left, and Thomas Shaffer, right, both Penn State York students majoring in English, review some of the work that has already been submitted  to the Penn State York Literary Competition.  Carrington and Thomas, along with Yanelis Melendez, also an English major, not pictured, are the editors for the campus' online literary magazine, "Any Other Word."  Winning works will be published in the magazine, and dramatic works will be considered for performance on the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) stage.  Deadline for submissions is March 2.

"Gobsmacked!" is coming to the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) at Penn State York on on Feb. 15. The show features heart-stopping singing and jaw-dropping beatboxing.

FTC 2018 Winning Alliance

The excitement built during the final match of the First Tech Challenge (FTC) South Central PA Regional Qualifier at Penn State York on Saturday, Jan. 17.  The winning alliance was comprised of three teams -- The Giant Diencephalic BrainSTEM Robotics Team (8393), from Baden, Pennsylvania; The Substantial Monocephalic BrainSTEM Robotics Team (6931), from Baden, Pennsylvania; and Tech Spark (10333), from York, Pennsylvania.

Penn State York's free cultural series continues on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. with Nazu African Dance.  Discover West Africa and the Ivory Coast in this free performance at the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) at Penn State York.

Robotics Competition 2017

Robots will fill the gym in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center at Penn State York on Saturday, Jan. 27 when the campus again hosts the  FTC South Central PA Regional Qualifier robotics competition.  Thirty-six teams of middle and high school students will spend the day competing and playing the game First Relic Recovery.  The competition is open to the public for viewing with opening ceremonies at 10:45 a.m.
