5 student startups win funding in Inc.U Competition

Student startup Bindr, a dating app that provides a safe space online for bisexual individuals, won $15,000, the largest prize amount, in the 2023 Invent Penn State Inc.U Competition. The competition, part of Penn State Startup Week powered by PNC, saw six Penn State student teams pitch their startups to a panel of judges and compete for up to $30,000 in funding.

Penn State York will take on Penn State Schuylkill in a doubleheader Saturday, April 1, at WellSpan Park in downtown York. The games are free and open to the public.

Two three-person teams of students from Penn State York captured second and third place in the national Stock Marketing Game.  York competed with colleges and universities from across the country. The sunglasses, given to students as part of a swag bag and awards, are to signify their bright futures.  Pictured left to right are James Ye, Lawrence Williams, and Isaiah Morales, who finished in second place, and Omar Elhasany, Rebecca Mauck, and Nakhaiya Jacobs, who finished in third place. The students are all members of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter at the campus.
