As one College of Communications senior begins her fourth summer internship with a TV station in Washington, D.C., she draws extra inspiration and motivation from her family.
With 13-month-old Elena as additional motivation, parents and students Pete Pitilis Jr. and Lesly Salazar have heightened their focus on their respective degrees, including a summer internship for Lesly.
Deborah Eicher-Catt, professor in the communication arts and sciences at Penn State York; Shirley Moody-Turner, associate professor of English and African-American studies in the College of the Liberal Arts; and Craig R. Zabel, department head and associate professor of art history in College of Arts and Architecture; have received the Alumni/Student Award for Excellence in Teaching and have been named 2016 Penn State Teaching Fellows.
Penn State is marking Sexual Assault Awareness month this April with a range of events and initiatives across the Commonwealth that offer educational opportunities, focus attention on the issue and bring the community together to stop sexual misconduct.
Penn State York held a candlelight vigil in 2014-15 to increase awareness of child sexual abuse. The fourth annual vigil, in November 2014, was sponsored by the Penn State York Council on Family Relations Club and the Student Veterans Association.
