Students can start preparing to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) by enrolling in Penn State York’s SAT prep course beginning Saturday, Jan. 27. The four-week course meets from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for four Saturdays in room 112 of the Edward M. Elias Science Building.
Penn State York is celebrating its 17th annual fall commencement at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) at the campus. Alice Conner-Malyszek, director of manufacturing for BAE Systems’ Combat Vehicles U.S., based in York, Pennsylvania, is the commencement speaker.
The weather outside might be frightful but students at Penn State York will be enjoying Late-night Breakfast inside with a theme of Winter Wonderland from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at Rosie’s in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center.
Final auditions for Penn State York Benefiting THON’s annual Paw Search, a family-friendly talent and variety show, are set for 4-8 p.m. Dec. 19 in the Community Room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center on campus.
What do you do with 233 pounds of pasta and 60 pounds of tuna? Penn State York student-athletes, faculty and staff, and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Penn State York donated these items to Lifepath Christian Ministries (formerly the York Rescue Mission) in York, Pennsylvania.
When Rachel Patz and Jeff Parthree, both adult learners, cross the stage during Penn State York’s 17th annual fall commencement ceremony, set for 6 p.m. Dec. 15, there will be many people to thank, and a great deal of pride. Both Parthree and Patz have persevered through a variety of events in life, and will be reaching their goal of a Penn State degree.
Penn State York will be closed for regular business for the semester break beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018. Events scheduled at the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center on campus will happen as planned.
Tickets are on sale now for Penn State York Benefiting THON’s "Paw Search," which is set for 7 p.m. Jan. 12 in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center on campus. Proceeds from the talent show go to the campus THON committee's effort to raise money to find a cure for pediatric cancer through THON, the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon.
Members of the Penn State York women's basketball team lifted the spirit of residents at SpirTrust Lutheran, The Village at Gettysburg in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, with a visit right before the holidays. The young women delivered Christmas cards they made, assisted residents in a game of shooting hoops, showed off some basketball tricks, and sang Christmas carols with the residents. They also had the opportunity to meet and talk with a 100-year-old resident who played basketball when she was in high school.
Penn State York Benefiting THON is partnering with the American Red Cross for a THON Blood Drive on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at Penn State York. The blood drive is from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Conference Center of the Main Classroom Building, and is open to the public.
