Jason Harold Graves, left, took advantage of the open microphone to say a few words during Penn State York's commencement May 4.  Graves, a student-veteran and adult learner, used his military benefits to help pay for his education.  He earned a bachelor of science in business and was the student marshal.  David W. Ready for some science fiction? Noel Sloboda, associate professor of English at Penn State York, is teaching a science fiction course beginning May 14. This six-week class explores the literature of technological innovation and social change — its development, themes and problems.

Lauren Clemens is graduating with a bachelor of science in business (BSB) from Penn State York.  Clemens took advantage of the accelerated BSB, and was able to complete her degree more quickly by taking classes in a variety of formats while working full-time.  Penn State provides a variety of ways for students to earn a degree.

Marina M. Mekheal, a student at Penn State York, right, received the Eric A. and Josephine S. Walker Award, the highest award a student can receive at a campus, during the 2018 Academic Awards Program on Sunday, April 22.  Andy Landis, associate professor of chemistry, left, nominated Mekheal for the award.  Scott Simonds, director of student affairs at Penn State York, center, held the Walker Award plaque while Landis talked about Mekheal and her accomplishments.

Jason Washington, a Penn State York student majoring in information sciences and technology (IST),  was all about last year's Late-night Breakfast theme of dressing up as a favorite musical artist or musical genre.  This year's theme is super heroes and super villains, and is set for Monday, April 30 from 7:30-930 p.m.   In addition to food, those in attendance will enjoy some entertainment and a time to socialize.
