Mohamed ElSonbaty, an electrical engineering major from Cairo, Egypt, performs lab work at Penn State York. ElSonbaty will move on to University Park to complete his degree as part of the 2+2 program. Penn State York offers a four-year degree in electro-mechanical engineering technology, and associate degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering technology that can be completed without leaving York. The campus will offer a review course in fall 2017 for the Fundamentals for Engineering exam.

York offering review course for Fundamentals of Engineering exam

Penn State York is offering the technical engineering course EMET 402 Fundamentals of Engineering Review for fall 2017. Current students with seventh-semester standing or higher, engineering graduates, and others in the engineering field are eligible to take the course.

Seventh grade girls from 27 schools will gather at Penn State York for Pathways to Your Future Exploring STEAM Careers on Friday, May 12.  The program, in its twenty-first year, is a carer awareness program highlighting opportunities in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM).  One of the most popular workshops at the event is The Science of Color in Cosmetics, where participants get to create their own color nail polish, and discover the science around it.

Educational and fun activities related to neuroscience, mental health, psychology and learning are set for April 5, when Penn State York celebrates Brain Awareness Day. The event, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Conference Center of the Main Classroom Building, is free and open to the public.

Penn State York students, faculty, staff, and members of the York community are invited to put their brains to work on Wednesday, April 5 when the campus celebrates Brain Awareness Day from 12-1:30 p.m. in the conference center of the Main Classroom Building.  The event is free and open to the public.

Campus to host York County Science and Engineering Fair March 6-8

Penn State York will host the 34th annual York County Science and Engineering Fair from March 6-8 in the Conference Center of the Main Classroom Building. About 200 projects will be judged during the event. Projects are open for public view from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on March 8.

Watch the bridges come crashing down during the annual Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers Bridge Building Competition on March 4 at Penn State York. The competition begins at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center.

Bridge building competition York

Watch the breaking of the bridges during the annual Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE) Bridge Building Competition on Saturday, March 4 at Penn State York, in the Community Room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center. About 30-40 bridges from high school students throughout the area are expected, with the competition beginning at 2 p.m. Spectators are invited to attend and watch as the bridges are tested and destroyed.
