Free Hugs Project comes to Penn State York Aug. 28

Ken E. Nwadike, peace activist and creator of the Free Hugs Project, kicks-off Penn State York’s free cultural series on Monday, Aug. 28, in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) on campus. Nwadike will spend the afternoon interacting with students, and the day concludes with his performance at 7 p.m., which explores how to overcome the differences that divide us.

Francyou Desse, a Penn State York student, was one of the many donors happy to give blood during the 2016 community blood drive. The drive, a partnership between the campus, the American Red Cross and Fox 43, will be held this year from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 24 in the Conference Center of the Main Classroom Building at Penn State York.

Penn State York Benefiting THON to host American Red Cross blood drive

Penn State York Benefiting THON is partnering with the American Red Cross for a THON Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Penn State York. The blood drive, in the Community Room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center, is open to the public. The American Red Cross will make a monetary donation to THON for each unit donated.

Giving back to the community was part of New Student Orientation (NSO) at Penn State York on Saturday, Aug. 20. At DreamWrights, a center for community arts for people of all ages in York, students worked on props, moved materials, and learned more about the organization. The campus plans to continue to include community service as part of NSO in the future.

College Town Takeover York

College Town Takeover festivities set for Sept. 18 in York

Watch the York Revolution play baseball and wear blue and white, as part of the College Town Takeover, Sunday, Sept. 18, at PeoplesBank Park in York, Pennsylvania. This collaborative effort between Penn State York, Harrisburg Area Community College, and York College, is designed to introduce students to the many things available to do in York City, and to encourage businesses to find ways to make York a student-friendly town.

Penn State York will be transfored into a drive-in movie on Frdiay, September 16.

Get that drive-in movie experience Sept. 16 at Penn State York

Get that drive-in movie experience when Penn State York features “Finding Dory,” a family-friendly film including many of the characters from “Finding Nemo,” and “Captain America: Civil War,” a movie for mature audiences, on Sept. 16. The event is free and open to campus and community members.

Penn State York's drive-in movie brings together members of the campus and the local community for a a night of fun.  Parking begins at 6:30 p.m., with the first film, "Finding Dory," beginning at 7:30 p.m.
