In a hard-fought battle, Penn State York was unable to stay alive in the Penn State University Athletic Conference soccer playoffs, falling to Penn State New Kensington 2-1 at home Oct. 25 in the conference quarterfinals. Tim Weikert took his team to the playoffs in just his second year as head coach.
Penn State York student Nicole Guise was named the winner of the first Startup Challenge Logo Contest. Guise’s design was selected from among 14 designs, and will be used on the Startup Challenge T-shirts, and on a variety of materials to promote the second annual event in search of the next big idea.
Becky Halstead, retired brigadier general, United States Army, shared her thoughts on leadership in a presentation, “Inspiring Courageous Leadership,” on Nov. 8 at Penn State York.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2017-18 Penn State York Advising Award. Students may submit nominations for the award, which is presented at the Academic Awards Program in April of each year.
Penn State Trustees today (Nov. 10) approved the naming of a new building to be constructed at Penn State York in honor of Don Graham, York business leader, philanthropist, and longtime supporter of Penn State York.
Penn State York student-athletes, Hannah Price, women’s volleyball, and Francyou Desse, soccer, were named the winners of the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award given by the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC). Awards are presented to athletes at each campus.
Auditions for Penn State York Benefiting THON’s annual Paw Search, a family-friendly talent and variety show, are set for 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, and 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, in the Community Room, Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center, at the campus.
Experience 600 years of history in just 6,000 seconds when Penn State York’s Penn Players take to the stage with “The Complete History of America (abridged),” on Dec. 5 and 6 in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center. The performances are free and open to the public. Tickets are not required.
