Penn State York has once again been named a Military Friendly School, by Victory Media, the leader in successfully connecting the military and civilian worlds. This is the third consecutive year York has earned this designation in recognition of their outstanding work with veterans.
Jennifer Nesbitt, an associate professor of English at Penn State York, isn’t just a fan of the popular PBS series “Downton Abbey,” she is considered an expert. Nesbitt, who has done numerous speaking engagements about the historical drama, is a regular guest on online podcasts recapping episodes every Monday with witf’s Fred Vigeant and Katie Lengyel. Susan Russell, the 2014-15 Penn State laureate is touring the state to promote dignity, and Penn State York is her last stop on the campus tour on Friday, April 24. Russell will share her thoughts on human dignity at noon in the Community Room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center.

Penn State York will honor the veterans on campus during a lunch on Nov. 11 — Veterans Day — in the rehearsal room of the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center. Faculty, staff and students are invited to show their support for veterans, enjoy a free lunch, and hear from a panel of military veterans about their experiences.
Penn State York’s SAT preparation course is designed to help high school students prepare for the new SAT, which begins in March 2016. The four-session course will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays beginning Jan. 23 in Room 112 of the Edward M. Elias Science Building.
Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech is regarded as one of the most powerful speeches in history. Six Penn State York students will do a dramatic reading of King’s famous speech at 12:15 p.m. Feb. 4 in the conference center at Penn State York. The program, sponsored by the Penn State York Black Student Union and the campus diversity committee, is free and open to the public.
Penn State is marking Sexual Assault Awareness month this April with a range of events and initiatives across the Commonwealth that offer educational opportunities, focus attention on the issue and bring the community together to stop sexual misconduct.
